It was our tremendous honor to be nominated for Business of the Year at this year’s Women’s Way Awards put on by Austin Woman Magazine. While we didn’t win, just standing alongside so many amazing woman-owned and led businesses was a pinch-me moment for us and feels like a tremendous milestone in our path with Loot!
It’s something we still want to celebrate, so we’d like to take a chance to share the speech we’d have given if we won business of the year. We certainly haven’t made it 8 years in the event industry on our own!
Thank you to Cindy Lo of Red Velvet Events for nominating Loot. We love partnering with you on events, and consider you a model leader.
Thank you to Woman’s Way for providing a platform to celebrate women in being strong business owners, leaders, and mothers. We can all empower each other to feel good about wrapping ourselves around all these roles.
Thank you to Matt and Tyler, our husbands, for allowing us to explore the idea of Loot, even when the concept was fresh and uncertain.
Thank you to our children, Daniel, Evelyn, Otto, and Edie for being so patient while mommy answered calls and emails and being understanding that mommy is out trying to make a difference in the world. We love you.
Thank you to our parents for believing in us to achieve what we set out to do.
Thank you to our staff for also believing in our concept, having passion about the idea, and carrying out the tasks day-to-day. YOU are the reasons we are successful.
Thank you to our finalist mates for living your dream, having strong goals, and providing Austin with stellar quality that sets us apart from other cities.
We love what we do and are forever grateful.
We still feel so grateful. We also want to give a huge shout out to Skull & Cakebones on their win in this category! Everything you make is delicious (shh, it’s vegan, too!) and we couldn’t be happier to watch you continue to do amazing things in the Austin community!
